Beyond neuroscience
BeeHive's recipes lean towards behavioural neuroscience, but nothing about the boards is neuroscience-specific. A board that meters water reward for a rodent is, electrically, just a board that switches a valve — so the same solenoid control board could just as well run greenhouse irrigation. The ingredients are general-purpose; the recipe is what makes them a neuroscience rig or something else entirely.
Non-neuro recipes already in the wild
Two recipes in the BeeHive organisation already step outside neuroscience:
- Incubator — a simple incubator built from an ice box, a Peltier element and sensors, using the H-bridge driver to drive the Peltier.
- In-line heater — keeps experiment solutions at temperature as they flow.
Contribute a recipe
If you use BeeHive in plant science, environmental monitoring, or any other field, your build is a recipe worth sharing. The ingredients catalogue and design rules are the same whatever the discipline.
